Bahamas Vacation House Rental

Turnbull House, our home in the Bahamas, is at times for rent by the week or more throughout the year. Turnbull is located near Deadman’s Cay on Long Island, one of the more southerly of the Bahamian out-islands. We are on ¼ mile of private Caribbean beach, with fishing, diving, sight-seeing and sea kayaking available, all at the house or within a short drive. The bonefishing is world class, and many other species are available including tarpon, snook, tuna and dorado.

There are three very large bedrooms, each with private entry off the veranda, each with a complete bath and one double and two single beds. There is one very large dining/kitchen/living room, and a laundry room at the back of the house with washer and dryer. A covered veranda surrounds the entire building. The beach is about twenty steps away, and there are beautiful, secluded beaches for many miles on either side of Turnbull, and on the other side of the island, on the Atlantic. These beaches all offer great fishing and snorkeling. The bonefish flats are as close as two miles away; you can drive or sea-kayak or WALK to world class bonefishing! Local guides are also available, and can get you to beautiful flats and areas that are not accessible except by flats boats. You can fish for snapper, jacks and other species right in front of the house, and catching your dinner is a simple proposition. Several small boats and kayaks, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear is available for your use.

SCUBA equipment is available for rent to certified divers; organized dive trips are available on the island, or you can dive in the waters in front of our house. We’re told that the diving at our house is world class – while we’re not divers ourselves, we’d be happy to provide references to divers that have visited us; they can provide better information than we could!

You have the options of cooking your own meals, hiring a local person to come and cook some meals for you, and going out to the local restaurants, 15 minutes away. The restaurants are fun, the food is great, and the folks are fun to get to know. Well-stocked grocery stores are also within 10 or 15 minutes from Turnbull, as are fish markets for lobster (crawfish) and conch.

You’ll want a rental car during your stay, and they are easily available.

Deadman’s Cay Airport is about 20 minutes from Turnbull, and is reached via Nassau, via Bahamasair or BH charters. You can get to our house, from most US cities, including the west coast, without having to overnight anywhere. We’ll be happy to discuss with you the best flight times and routes, and you should definitely give us a call in that regard as the charter services aren’t usually available through travel agents, but will allow the best and least expensive travel.
